Big wave surfing is an incredibly demanding sport that puts significant stress on mind, body, and equipment. This is particularly true in Nazaré, a place renowned for heavy, outsized waves and an inside that is powerful and unforgiving to surfers, pilots, and jet skis.

Big wave surfing is also a cottage industry that, for better or worse, remains shrouded in mystery. As a result, it took us some time to figure out, mostly through trial and error, what type of training, equipment and safety techniques work for us and why.

We will update this section regularly to share our knowledge and describe how we prepare ourselves to surf and survive big waves.

We would love to hear from you

Do you have questions or feedback for our team? Would you like to test your equipment in one of the world’s harshest marine environments, experience Nazaré in capable hands, or suggest environmental and social causes we should be aware of? Or should we simply include you in our distribution list so you can receive regular updates on our activities?
