Big wave surfing

Our team operates out of Nazaré in Portugal.

The stage of the recently released 100 Foot Wave HBO series (www.hbo.com/100-foot-wave), Nazaré is home to the world’s largest waves due to its 4,000 m deep canyon, a unique geological formation that magnifies incoming swells exponentially and has produced successive world records.

Each winter, professional big wave surfers from around the world converge onto Praia do Norte to surf the world’s largest waves and hopefully win one of the World Surf League's XXL Big Wave awards or beat the world record.
When conditions are subpar at Nazaré, we explore lesser-known big wave spots along the Portuguese and Spanish Coasts. Over the past seasons, we travelled to Galicia to surf Illa Pancha (Ribadeo) and nearby slabs, and experimented tow surfing several spots along the Portuguese coast in Peniche, Cascais, Lisbon, Alentejo, Algarve and in the middle of the Atlantic.

Over the next few years, we plan to expand our radius of action to France, Ireland, South Africa, Mexico, Peru, Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, and Australia.

We will update this section regularly to relate our best sessions.
